St. Paul's Music Ministry
St. Paul's has a very active music ministry supported by a volunteer choir of 12 regular members. From September through early June the choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and sings at the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service. During the summer, our many talented vocal and instrumental soloists provide special music for the services. Guitar and bass often accompany praise and worship songs. The choir presents an Advent Concert in early December with additional singers and instrumentalists, and Christmas and Easter services are enhanced by a Moravian Brass Ensemble.
During the year, the church hosts special concerts for the congregation and community. This year a jazz concert featuring the Pete BarenBregge Quintet was a great success.
Our historic Hook and Hastings 13-rank pipe organ, built in 1873 and restored in 1993, accompanies the worship services. In addition, the church has an Irmler studio piano and a Technics digital keyboard for accompanying contemporary Christian music.
Choir director and organist Barbara Masters has taught music at Queen Anne School, St. Anselm's Abbey School, Prince George's Community College, and has published organ and choral music.
Those involved in the music ministry are grateful for the opportunity to praise God through the beauty of sacred music. We enjoy our fellowship together and are always eager to increase the size of the choir. Anyone who enjoys singing would be most welcome! Interested singers may contact Barbara Masters at the church number: 301-627-4200.
